CP18: extremely compact case packer with palletizing option. Ideal for packaging products such as pharmaceutical items, the machine is suitable for different production needs. Equipped with a horizontal case magazine for easy loading, the machine keeps the case erect during product insertion with the aid of suction cups fitted to the pick-up and forced opening arms. All the parts of the machine can be reached from the operator’s side without having to walk to the opposite side to reach the carton stacking unit. Types of closure tuck-in and hot-melt
The AS 120 intermittent motion horizontal cartoner has been designed to conform to GMP standards and to the other current European industrial safety regulations. Minimum space is required for the installation of this machine due to the extremely small footprint. Designed for automatic cartoning of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, the AS 120 incorporates the "Balcony" type frame construction. This design places the main drive and auxiliary movements to the side of the carton transport mechanism. This allows complete accessibility, for cleaning, maintenance, inspection and size changeover operations. The "Balcony" design also prevents carton dust and debris from falling into main drive components. The carton pick-up and positive opening mechanism is patented and uses a triple vacuum arm system with suction cups. This system holds the carton on two panels which guarantees perfect squaring of the carton before introduction to the transport belt assembly. There is no carton contact with metal rails due to the fact that the transport belts travel with the carton. The carton transport system consists of scratch-proof white plastic toothed belts to insure package integrity, even when processing cartons with a high gloss finish. The AS 120 cartoner is ideal for handling fragile or delicate products including cartons with internal liners. Like the other models from BERGAMI, the AS 120 uses accurate mechanical movements and reliable product feeding systems. Size changeover is very quick and simple with adjustements made through digital indicators. In most cases, no tools are required for the change over procedure. The AS 120 uses pre-glued cartons and can accommodate reverse or straight tuck closures. The machine can also be ordered with a "hot melt" system for glue closure of the end flaps. A combination of tuck closure and glue closure can also be used. The machine is controlled through a PLC and has an LCD operator interface display .This display is used for operator assistance during production and size change-over, electrical wiring, noise level and operator's guards are in accordance with European. standard.

General characteristics
- An infeed system (automatic or manual), located upstream of the cartoner, deposits the product on the drawer chain. The drawer chain transports the product in an alternating motion to the area where it is inserted into the carton.
- The case, which is removed from the magazine by suction cups, is then formed by a positive movement and introduced into a transport system that will transfer it to the following stations, keeping it square.
- In the infeed station, the mechanical pusher (fitted with a safety disconnector) feeds the product into the case using a mobile channel hopper.
- The packaged carton is completed by closing the tabs as it moves to the output side.
- - The operating logic of the P91 cartoners provides for carton removal only when the correct product is present.

DESCRIPTION What has allowed the PMM intermittent motion horizontal cartoner to become a significant reference in the packaging sector owes to having maintained the technical solutions which have made CAM cartoners the choice of thousands of end users worldwide, for their reliability and flexibility, without overlooking project updating in requirements. Carton erection, carried-out by means of an articulated twin blade inserted into the carton ensuring positive pre-breaking, allows low grammage board to be used even when handling square-section formats or carton with glueing and creasing imperfections. Perfect product introduction (even for products with irregular shape/ dimensions) is guaranteed by the insertion of the moveable mouthpiece inside the carton, avoiding any uncontrolled passage of product from bucket to carton. Products are also prevented from straying out of the carton by the action of the spring loaded guides which automatically close during the return stroke of the pusher. The use of closed profile cams with surface hardening treatment, guarantees the reliability of all positive driven movements during the course of time. Particular attention has been given to machine cleaning below the carton transport area, where possible product or packaging material residue is conveyed to easily accessible collection areas. ThePMM cartoner is equipped with a tube product feeding systems and coders, detection and reject devices, etc.. Schubert-Pharma was commissioned to develop a more efficient packaging process that provides the manufacturer with faster format changeovers and lower material costs.
The renowned filler of ampoules and vials, customer, wanted to thermoform plastic trays straight from the roll. The benefits speak for themselves: the company saves money in material costs and logistics, and achieves greater efficiency in the packaging process.
The previous laborious format part changeover had meant customer had to place preformed plastic trays into a magazine and unstack them for the packaging process. Using prefabricated trays meant it was necessary for Customer to accept the increased material consumption and logistics costs. Schubert-Pharma was brought in to address this issue.

Thermoforming, filling and cartoning
The customized line designed by Schubert-Pharma for Customer separates the thermoforming machine from the filling and cartoning process. The packaging line is able to pack both vials (standing in trays) and ampoules (lying flat in clamping trays). The wide range of formats that can be used is quite remarkable. The customized line packs small packs, e.g. five vials or ampoules, into a blister/carton, and processes ten blisters with five products each per carton.
With this machine, Schubert-Pharma provided the filler with a system that will continue to provide further rationalisation in packaging over many years to come.
Technical Details
Thermoforming machine
In the thermoforming unit, the blisters are shaped and punched out. A shaped plug is used as part of the thermoforming process. The 400 mm wide film sheet runs continuously at a speed of up to 9 metres per minute. Punching out is done by ultrasound; a process that allows any desired punching contours and guarantees low-cost tools with quick format changeover. The thermoforming and punching units automatically adapt to the speed of the film. The entire machine is programmed by entering parameters on the operator interface panel.
Filling and cartoning process
The blisters are then prepared for loading. At the same time, the products (vials or ampoules) are fed into the machine and pre-grouped. The loaded blisters are placed in a pre-erected top-load box and closed once the package information leaflet has been added. After the individual boxes have been marked with inkjet printers, they are passed downstream to transport logistics.

Semi-automatic vertical cartoner CAM AV65
Semi-automatic machine with intermittent movements and vertical
transport of the carton. Cartoner suitable for cartons with closure by inserting 2 or alternating flaps, the product is inserted manually, the machine inserts the leaflet, codes the carton, closes the carton and ejects the product at the exit.
The frame contains all the mechanical controls.
The Cam AV cartoner was designed with the need for frequent format changeovers in mind. The operations required to process a product and/or another carton have been minimised, enabling very fast format changeovers.
